Why I always add these 6 healthy superfood-powders to my smoothie

It’s common knowledge that our soil is different from what it was. It’s nowhere near as nutritious as it was, which means that everything we grow in it has less health benefits. That’s why I work with supplements or superfoods. These are my six favorite superfoods.

Moringa

This green powder is made from the leaves of the tropical Moringa-tree – also called the Medicine Cabinet of Mother Nature. It’s filled with nutrients like calcium, chloride, chromium, copper, fluorine, iron, manganese, magnesium, molybdenum, phosphorus, potassium, selenium, sulfur and zinc, vitamins A, B, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, folic acid, vitamin C, vitamin D , vitamin K and vitamin E. That’s a whole lot, isn’t it? But what is it used for?

Moringa is widely used in gastric disorders, allergies, edema, liver protection, diabetic cure, eye protection, cardiovascular health, bone health, urolithiasis, bronchial asthma, sickle cell anemia, nephrotoxicity, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, anemia, obesity, wound healing, hair care and skincare. You can add Moringa powder to your smoothies/smoothiebowls or buy it in pill-form. I prefer the powder-version and add it to my breakfast.

Camu Camu and Acerola berries

These berries are made to powder, so you take in the purest form of vitamine c. No chemically made ascorbic acid here, but the entire berry. Vitamin C is vital to the production of collagen. In the body, 5 types of collagen can be found and they play parts in important functions of our body like skin, bone, teeth, tendons, ligaments, fascia, organ capsules and the connective tissue of our organs (liver, spleen, kidneys, etc.) Vitamin C also contains lots of antioxidants which help fight free radicals warding off inflammation, infections, and viruses. They say you can’t really take to much vitamin C (it leaves your body when you pee), so I love taking in lots. I stir it in my water or mix it through my smoothie(bowl). It’s really superfood.

Chlorella

It’s not difficult for lots of heavy metals to enter your body. They come in through pollution, cosmetics, our tap water and food packages. Chlorella helps detox your body and gets rid of these heavy metals. It’s a  is a blue-green algae, just like Spirulina which has about the same effects. It’s said that Chlorella supports our immune system, stimulates healthy hormonal function and promoting cardiovascular health. It contains protein, vitamin A, vitamin B1, vitamin B6, vitamin B2, vitamin B3, Iron, Magnesium and Zinc. This can also be added to your smoothie(bowl)s.

Turmeric (curcuma)

This guy looks a bit like ginger, but has different benefits. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory propertiesResearch also shows that turmeric has an anti-inflammatory effect on intestinal inflammations, this has to do with curcumin in Turmeric (which is prepared by extraction from yellow root, the rhizomes of the turmeric plant Curcuma longa). These anti-inflammatory functions of turmeric also protect your liver and help with the detoxification process. In addition, the curcumin increases the production of bile fluid, which stimulates the function of your gall bladder. You can add this to your tea, smoothie or oatmeal. Reishi

This powder is made from the Reishi mushroom, also dubbed ‘mushrooms of immortality’. Polysaccharides found in the reishi mushroom displayed some life span-extending properties, this study found. This mushroom boosts the immune system big time and reversed chemical-driven liver damage in mice. It is also believed to reduce stress and boost energy. What I like to call superfood!

Wheatgrass

This green fella has nothing to do with wheat. It’s one of the best sources of living chlorophyll (an important blood builder) nowadays. Can you believe this: it contains all minerals known to man, and vitamins A, B-complex, C, E, l and K. It is very rich in protein and contains 17 amino acids. It’s also anti-bacterial, neutralizes toxins and helps purify the liver. Drinking it may also benefit people suffering from eczema and psoriasis and people going through TSW.

Most of my powders are from Biotona, the Wheat Grass one is from Purasana. Both can be bought at health food stores or online.

  1. Spirulina is one of the best superfood available in nature. It contains the maximum protein element. Many people do not know about spirulina & its benefits. I am a regular consumer of spirulina capsules and know its profits. Your post will motivate people to use it.
