Already one of my favorite lunch- and dinner spots in the Pijp in Amsterdam, The Meets, has a sister, one in Amsterdam Oost. ‘Here, wholesome meets lekker, meets fun, meets you and the neighbours, meets day, meets night,’ is what The Meets says. And they are definitely right. After having visited the location in the Pijp many times, it was time to check out the one in the east part of Amsterdam.
80% vegan baby
Good to know: all of The Meets dishes are lovingly made by hand from locally sourced, honest and, if possible, organic ingredients free from refined sugars, additives or other nasties. They like to follow the 80/20 rule: 80% plant-based, 20% animal produce. So that means it’s super easy to have a meal if you’re vegan and you can even bring a meat eating-friend.
The interior of the new location is a-ma-zing. It has that seventies vibe going on with purple and orange details. Extra attention on the wall that looks like you’re looking at a crystal through kaleidoscope. Awesome. I definitely loved having a meal here. The vibe is also very relaxed and at night, there’s a lot of candle light creating a cozy and somewhat romantic atmosphere.
What they serve changes every season, but they are many options. And they have quite some meals for those with allergies as well and are very willing to leave out certain things if you’re allergic. And while you’re there: definitely don’t forget to taste the delicious smoothies or try some lovely herbal teas. Definitely worth it.
You can find The Meets at Sumatrastraat 28, in Amsterdam Oost as well as Cornelis Troostplein 3 in the Pijp. They are open every day on Monday-Thursday from 11:00 to 22:00 and on Friday-Sunday from 09:30 – 22:00 for seriously good coffees, exciting juices and an all-day menu of delicious and wholesome food for breakfast, lunch, borrel and dinner.
