Do you love adventure and to wake up in nature? You don’t have to go far for that. Camping Buitenland, located in Nieuw-Amsterdam (near Emmen) is just what you need.
Located in the middle of a beautiful forest you can find Camping Buitenland, founded by five friends who wanted to create a place outside of the hectic urban life. They didn’t just create a lovely getaway, they’ve created a small paradise with different types of accommodation options. From the cutest tiny houses to a big yellow school bus and from a mini church to a bell tent: staying here is everything but average. I stayed a couple of nights in a cute bell tent with a private mini beach in front of it, that included a picnic table and a Dutch oven.
Everything you need
In the bell tent is just about everything you need: a coffee maker, an oil lamp, a heater, a kettle, electricity and of course, a bed. Actually, four beds. So you can sleep there with a partner, a family or a group of friends.
Once you step outside, your bare feet touch the sand and you can take a seat to do some work, do a game or cook a meal at the Dutch oven. Is there anything better than cooking your own meal above a fire you just made yourself? Yeah, I didn’t think so. No idea what to make with the Dutch oven? How about Paella? Or a curry? Even a pasta is easy doable. The key is to think in one-pan-meals.
The camping shop
There’s a very small camping shop slash reception, where you can buy the things you forgot to take with you. Fun fact: most of those things are sustainable and eco-friendly. They only sell household products from Seepje and Yoni, bamboo toothbrushes, wooden dish wash brushes etc.
Lots to do
If you visit Camping Buitenland during a holiday, there’s also tons of activities to do for children and adults. There’s music, yoga and much more. If you visit during a more quiet time, it’s just nature surrounding you. Fun tip: on a five minute walking distance from the camping there’s a small man-made lake called Zandpol where you can go for a swim. What’s not to like?
