When I was thirteen, I stopped eating meat. I read an article on Peta about 10 reasons not to eat meat. I read things like ‘the world’s cattle alone consume a quantity of food equal to the caloric needs of 8.7 billion people – more than the entire human population on Earth’ and it hurted me so bad, I decided to stop eating meat. When I got older and the internet got bigger (really, things like Facebook weren’t there yet), I got to know more and more about the way we produce and eat food.
I learned about ingredients we add to our food that aren’t of any nutritional value. I read more and more about this subject and decided that I wanted to eat as little processed food as possible and no animal products. The way we treat animals to obtain products like milk, cheese and eggs are very often not okay in my eyes.
I believe that feeding my body whole foods, like lots of veggies and fruit will benefit the overall health of my body and mind. Since I’ve been eating the way I do, my hair started growing even more, my skin got better, I’ve been feeling better, I haven’t been sick in forever and I can go on like this.
And of course, I sometimes eat things like fries (my guilty pleasure) and very often I will eat a piece of chocolate (another guilty pleasure). I think it’s important to keep a certain balance in my lifestyle. To keep myself sane. I don’t do that because the foods I usually eat are boring. On the contrary! I can still eat a very tasty burger or a donut and eat vegan and healthy. It’s 2017, you know!
I would love to hear more about the way you eat (as long as you keep it polite!).
